Welcome to the very first posting from Codepink RVA participant Warprotester! Yes, there are war protesters in the South. Hard to believe, but true. I am pleased to announce that over 250 anti-war protesters braved the cold night air to protest the Wednesday after the President's State of the Union Address. We stood in front of city hall with a multitude of signs, noisemakers, candles, flashlights, and a few aging hippies to encourage our fellow Richmonders to honk for peace. We garnered a lot of support, attention from the local news media, and a few expletives shouted our way.
Yesterday, I traveled with an assortment of groups to Washington, D.C. for the January 27th Ant-War Protest. Codepink was out in force and very visible. I had a blast meeting women from all over the United States who are devoted to the same mission of ending this heinous war in Iraq.
I look forward to hearing from my readers about their experiences and any plans for local Virginia events.
Peace Out,
Warprotester
